July 1st Minimum Wage Increases & New Rates in 2023

Written by Admin | May 28, 2022 3:04:00 AM

Minimum wage is on the move!  Several California cities and counties will see an increase in the minimum wage on July 1, 2022.  Most other California cities have a different minimum wage for employers with more or less than 26 employees (more on that below).  All cities listed below, except West Hollywood, have set the minimum wage noted for all employee sizes.

Effective July 1st, 2022:

  • Alameda: $15.75/hour
  • Berkeley: $16.99/hour
  • Emeryville: $17.68/hour
  • Fremont: $16.00/hour
  • Los Angeles City: $16.04/hour
  • Los Angeles County: $15.96/hour
  • Malibu: $15.96/hour
  • Milpitas: $16.40/hour
  • Pasadena: $16.22/hour
  • San Francisco: $16.99/hour
  • Santa Monica: $15.96/hour
  • West Hollywood (49 or fewer employees): $16.00/hour
  • West Hollywood (50+ employees): $16.50/hour

All other California employers should be on the lookout for a rise in the previously communicated rate increase schedule.  On May 12, 2022, Governor Gavin Newsom announced a proposal for a state inflation relief package and it included an increase in the minimum wage to $15.50 per hour, instead of the previous $15.00 per hour.

This would apply on January 1, 2023, for all businesses regardless of size.
